2008 Arbor Day Poster Contest Materials Available for Fifth Grade Teachers and Art Teachers and Parents of Homeschooled 5th grade level students
In celebration of Arbor Day, April 25, the Nevada Division of Forestry and the National Arbor Day Foundation are calling on all fifth-grade classrooms in Nevada to showcase their artistic talents by creating posters reflecting the theme “Trees are Terrific … and inside and out!” In December, every Nevada elementary school received a free standards-based curriculum guide for its fifth grade teachers. The guide uses the theme to incorporate science and arts into learning exercises about the importance of trees and the overall environmental health of our communities.
If you did not receive a copy of the guide and contest information, please call Susan Stead at 775-684-2506, or fax 775-687-2570. Provide your name, name of the school, and complete school mailing address and phone number. The deadline for poster entries is 5:00 p.m. March 1, 2008 , in the Carson City Nevada Division of Forestry Office.
Nevada’s winning poster will be entered into the National Arbor Day Poster Contest sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation. Awards will be given to the state and three regional winners and their teachers, and to all teachers of a school’s winning poster. View Nevada’s Hall of Fame’s previous winners on this website
